VIDEO: "Chopstick Exercise": Practice "Bytes"
This is my first video demonstrating my version
of Keith Underwood's "Chopstick Exercise" which
helps flutists learn to better organize their
embouchures by playing with a chopstick in their
mouths.
Very weird exercise, with wonderful results!
I use the exercise as a "prelude" to teaching
buzzing, especially for advanced flutists who
are beginner buzzers.
In the video I demonstrate the exercise in short
Practice "Bytes."
More Practice "Bytes" are posted in the
LeGrand
Virtual Studio.
Bon appetit!

“Hit Inhale” Exercise
This video is an excerpt from the downloadable
video series, Flutorials™ "From the Start:
Step-by-step videos for teaching beginning
flutists.”
The “Hit Inhale” Exercise is also applicable to
playing other wind/brass instruments. And it is
useful for improving rhythm of note starts and
intonation in ensemble settings.
The "From the Start” videos, together with
"Progressive Lessons for Novice Flutists,” also
in the
LeGrand Virtual Studio
provide detailed step-by-step instructions for
learning to play the flute from the beginning
through the playing of simple tunes. This series
is a valuable resource for band directors and
private studio teachers, yet simple enough to
understand that students may use it as
supplemental materials to their lessons or band
class.
Podcast instruction benefits students by
allowing them to repeat each element or part of
the video until they have mastered each skill.
Teachers and advanced students might also
benefit from watching these videos and
remembering how to simplify a song into basic
elements. |
